KnitWear Care Guide

Don’t wash your knits unnecessarily often as this can cause distortion and pilling.

Sometimes fresh and humid air outside overnight or wind can solve the problem.

Always store your knitwear folded, not on a hanger as this can misshape the item.

HAND WASHING

Hand-washing is usually recommended for knitwear.

Use special detergent for wool, for example, “Frosch”, “SEAL Delicate Ķastanis”, “PearlWoll” and others.Soak it for 10-20 minutes in the sink in cold or slightly warm water. Drain the sink, rinse the knitwear and press it against the sides of the sink to remove excess water, before drying.

To best dry your knitwear, place a towel onto a table/floor, lie the knitwear down on the towel flat, roll up the towel and the knitwear and gently press to remove water. (Never wring out knitwear as this will damage the shape!) Unroll, give the knitwear the required shape and leave it on a flat surface to air dry. This will ensure your knitwear doesn’t stretch out, shrink or become misshapen.

To avoid shrinking your knitwear, it’s best to avoid heat when drying it.

MACHINE WASHING

Some new age washing machines also have good and reliable programs for wool items that are gentle enough not to damage the material. But you should always check that the temperature is not set higher than 30 degrees and a special wool/delicate detergent is used.

Some delicate wool machine drying programs can also be used, but it depends on each individual machine and one’s experience with it.

Don’t use washing powder or fabric softener, it may damage the wool.
